What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Sheriff position at Grant County?
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is currently taking applications for a Full-Time Deputy Sheriff. Sheriff Deputy duties include, but are not limited to patrol of the county, investigation of vehicle accidents and criminal offenses, transportation of inmates, illegal drug enforcement, civil paperwork service, and other assignments issued by the Sheriff. Hours may include days, nights, weekends and holidays. Scheduling includes a three-day weekend off, every other week. No certification is necessary to apply but preference may be given to a Certified applicant. Non-Certified applicants must be willing to obtain South Dakota Law Enforcement Certification within one year of hire date.
Starting wage for Certified Officers is $26.90 - $29.25 per hour and Non-Certified is $21.60 with benefits including paid Health Insurance, State Retirement plan, Vacation and Sick Leave.
