Die Cutting Operator: The die cutter operator is required to perform manual and machine operator tasks related to the set-up, maintenance, and operations of the die cutting machine. While operating the machine, they are responsible to run quality at or above target run speeds while minimizing waste and downtime. The die cutting machine operator is:

- Required to obtain and review the job ticket for items, quantities, caliper of the board and any special instructions that is needed for running the order

- Is responsible for ensuring that all make readies are completed as quickly as possible

- Responsible for inspecting product quality and ensuring the die cutting machine is in good running condition

- Responsible for shutting down the machine if it is to be left unattended

The job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Primary Responsibilities and Skills:

  • Make-ready, adjust and run job as efficiently as possible to meet safety and productivity standards.
  • Examine job order to determine quantity to be cut, stock specifications and special die cutting instructions
  • Examine cutting dies for visual defects and apply correcting solution to repair minor defects
  • Make necessary adjustments to ensure quality
  • Ensure information is communicated between shifts
  • Ensure Company Safety, Quality and Production standards are met
  • Perform proper and required maintenance as well as cleaning of Die Cutter
  • Maintenance duties include stooping under machinery and climbing ladders.
  • Ability to follow directions and work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to interpret and translate designs and documentation.
  • Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, adjust, and debug
  • Thorough attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of technical written (and verbal)
  • Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environmental regulations.
  • Visual color discrimination, the ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of colors.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Excellent attendance

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Manufacturing experience preferred

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

- High School Diploma preferred, technical school education, or equivalent.

- Heavy mechanical/operator level skills in a manufacturing environment.

- Two years of related manufacturing focus experience in a converting facility or similar type preferred.

- Must have extensive knowledge of mechanical and pneumatic components.

- Trained knowledge in mechanical assembly standards, engineering standards, or other applicable procedures and parts flow.

- Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Company issued Fork Truck Operator’s license, preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

WORK SCHEDULE:

Regular overtime is expected.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Walking or standing, depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods.
  • Awkward and/or repetitive movements.
  • Lifting to 50 lbs.
  • Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
  • Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment.
  • Work in areas of fluctuating temperature.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is regularly exposed to dust, fumes, heat, cold, vibration, toxic conditions, and potential work hazards.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Personal Protective Equipment (hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes, and gloves) is required. Other PPE may be required for specific tasks,
