Job Summary/Description:  

The Videojournalist works with producers and reporters to gather audio, video, and information for newsroom broadcasts and projects which will effectively tell a story. The Videojournalist will use all tools that are available including station cameras, Go Pros, phones, microphones, LiveU, editing software, and simple graphics to help create professional award-winning broadcasts.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Work with producers and reporters as they create quality stories that are interesting, informative, creative, and award-winning for broadcast and digital.
* Ability to operate news cameras, GoPro, microphones, and other news recording equipment.
* Use editing equipment for video, audio, and graphics.
* Ability to operate live field equipment.
* Ability to use lighting equipment for interviews and live shots.
* Use microphones and recording equipment to get the best quality sound.
* Conduct interviews in person or by phone, zoom, etc.
* Ability to cover breaking news safely and quickly.
* Will cover breaking news, general assignment stories, and feature interviews.
* Excellent communication skills to relay information from the field to the newsroom and co-workers.
* Use creativity to work with producers and reporters to improve the storytelling process.
* Ability to lift and carry television cameras and cables.
* Share work and information with our digital audience.
* Represent that station and newsroom professionally and respectably.

Qualifications/Requirements:

* Ability to work as part of a team in a newsroom where a good work culture exists.
* College degree in journalism, communications, or a related field preferred.
* Experience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systems.
* Understanding of the tenets of professional journalism.
* The use of social and digital media professionally and respectfully.
* Organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under constant time pressure deadlines.
* Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events.
* Candidate must possess a clean driving record.
