O&M Coordinator (GREC)

Minimum direction is provided by the Operations Manager.
Position Summary
The O&M Coordinator’s primary duties are to process and coordinate scheduled work requests to ensure that all safety permitting requirements are satisfied, including the isolation of equipment from all potentially hazardous energy before employees and contractors perform any service or maintenance activities . Has technical responsibilities for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating Clearance activities. This includes the ability to determine that a requested Clearance will provide a safe working environment for the requestor personnel performing work within the boundary of the Clearance. This position is responsible for the site enforcement and training of the clearance procedures and ensuring that all equipment is properly isolated before any service or maintenance is performed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Receive, verify, approve, and close safety permits, including Clearances, Confined Space and Hot Work permits.
Ensures completion of all defined work activities, notation of the hazards involved, and precautions to be taken prior to the execution of the work (e.g., use of JSAs, Safe Work Plan [SWP], etc.).
Coordination of all work activities to provide a safe working environment for all personnel at the site.
Provide highly advanced technical and administrative direction and be responsible for site wide clearance operations and execution.
Proactively reviews processes, documentation, and procedures to keep updated on operational activities.
Develops and owns templated clearance isolation plans.
Clarify questions related to the clearance procedure.
Maintain list of Authorized Permit Requestor and only accept requisition from authorized personnel.
Serve as the team’s point of contact to provide information and collect safety permitting questions for resolution by management and employees.
Support the maintenance and operations teams in work planning for hazardous energy mitigation.
Ensure uniform implementation and compliance with the operation process programs by site employees and contractors. Provide assessments, as required, to implement the clearance program and ensure program compliance.
Identify clearance points using electrical and mechanical single line, three-line diagrams.
Identify clearance training needs and collaborate with subject matter experts on course structural development.
Train all required site personnel that may work on system equipment, on clearance procedures.
Enforce the use of operational, safety, and maintenance procedures.
Promote a strong safety culture within the working craft crews.
Identify safety hazards employees may be subject to and take necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards.
Enhances current training programs to align with established plant goals for safety, quality, and production.
Ensures job training qualification and certification processes are followed.
Helps to ensure required training documentation is maintained.
Communicates effectively with all levels across the plant.

The ideal candidate will have:
Supervisor or certified senior plant operator experience at a power plant or similar industrial environment industrial facility.
Prior experience with mechanical and electrical lockout/tagout isolations.
Proven dedication to safety.
Thorough understanding of Safety and Operational policies and procedures.
Proficient communication skills both verbal and written with the use of a computer.
EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years’ experience in Clearance/LOTO program administration, implementation, or supervision.
Well-developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organization, as well as outside customers and vendors.
Strong organizational skills needed to manage time well, prioritize effectively and handle multiple deadlines.
Ability to work in high-pressure situations and handle multiple tasks.
Possess effective planning skills
Must be proficient in both Microsoft Word and Excel
Read and understand mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings
Read and understand P&IDs
Read and understand a project schedule
Must have a valid state driver’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS
Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, arc flash rated clothing etc.).
Work outside in all types of weather conditions.
May be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet, underground and in confined spaces.
Must possess mental, visual, and auditory acuity for attention to visual and auditory detail. Manual dexterity is required for the operation of test equipment, small tools, and the installation, adjustment, and repair of control devices.
Must be able to stand and walk on cement floors, uneven ground, slippery surfaces, and open grating.
Must be able to climb extending ladders, restricted overhead clearance ladders, scaffolding, stairs, and various other elevated equipment.
Must be alert to equipment in the field.
Must be able to carry and operate a fire extinguisher, escape an emergency by running.
Must be able to lift ≥50 lbs. from the floor level, and push/pull heavy objects while standing, crouching, and in bent posture.
