Description:
Classroom LPN to assist with 3 students who have seizure disorder. In sub separate classroom with 9 students who have intellectual disabilities. Additional support in classroom. Nurse may do some outings with students.
Responsibilities:
Conducts immunization programs
Assesses case manager health needs
Assesses and evaluates the health & developmental status of pupils
Performs health counseling to include: crisis intervention, drug and alcohol addiction, etc.
Interprets health and developmental assessments
Designs and implements individual student health maintenance plans
Refers the pupil, parent, & guardian to community resources
Maintains communication to promote needed treatments
Interprets medical and nursing findings
Consults with, conducts in-service training for, and serves as a resource person
Develops and implements the health education curriculum
Participates in implementing health instruction curriculum
Counsels & assists pupils & parents in health-related adjustments
Teaches health-related subjects under the supervision of a classroom teacher
Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
Valid School Nurse Services Credential required
Valid nurse license issued by the state required
Two years of successful experience as a school nurse preferred
Valid CPR certification
Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language may be required
Computer proficiency required
Must be at least 18 years of age
