Job Summary
The Broadcast & Communications Assistant will work closely with the Manager of Programming & Play-by-play to enhance the quality, workflow, and productivity of the communications, media relations, and radio broadcasts for the Great Lakes Loons and ESPN 100.9-FM.
Essential Functions
- Serve as the #2 play-by-play broadcaster for the Great Lakes Loons
- 3 innings of play-by-play for all Loons home games and select road games
- Host of 15-minute Loons pre-game show for all Loons home games
- Produce all Loons road games from studio
- Manage audio quality of broadcasts, record and edit highlights, and play commercial breaks
- Serve as play-by-play broadcaster for ESPN 100.9-FM’s High School Basketball coverage
- Compile and distribute media information for all Loons home games, including daily stat packs, lineups, rosters, and game notes.
- Aid in the production of the Loons Media Guide, LoonsNest Program, and From the Nest Blog – including developing content for featured stories
- Aid in the management of all Loons media communication, including daily, in-season relationships and media requests
- Write recaps for e-mail distribution, posting on website following all Loons games
- Generate multi-platform content for 100.9-FM and Loons
- Research and distribute relevant content on 100.9-FM social media (Twitter, Facebook).
- Participate in consistent updating of 100.9-FM website
- Aid in the production of 100.9-FM on-air features, including Tigers updates, Hot Takes, and Loons updates
- Other duties as deemed necessary or as directed.

Knowledge / Skills / Job Qualifications
· Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
· Strong attention to detail
· Computer audio editing software expertise
· Ability to work flexible and demanding hours, including weekends and holidays
Preferred Education and Formal Training
· Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcasting
Experience
· A minimum of one year of working in radio
· A minimum of one year as a play-by-play broadcaster
Compensation Plan
· Hourly wage with overtime opportunities
