What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lending Trainee position at Great Southern Bank?
Great Southern Bank currently holds commercial lending offices in the following regions: Rogers AR, Davenport IA, Sioux City IA, West Des Moines IA, Chicago IL, Overland Park KS, Minneapolis MN, Springfield MO, St. Louis MO, Omaha NE, Tulsa OK, Dallas TX, Denver CO, Phoenix, AZ, Charlotte, NC and Atlanta GA.
This position is a 20 week program that requires relocation for training purposes to Springfield, MO and Overland Park, KS. Upon successful completion of the training, relocation to one of the above mentioned regions is required to obtain a permanent lending-focused position determined prior to starting the program.
This program will provide a meaningful work experience in several key areas of the Lending Division. Trainees will work closely with bank staff to gain knowledge and understanding of bank policies, procedures, and regulations in the following areas of the bank: Commercial Lending, Consumer Lending, Loan Operations, and Residential Lending. Trainees will also be exposed to several other areas of the bank to gain an understanding of their importance to the Lending Division.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works closely with assigned mentor in Commercial Lending to gain knowledge of the bank's commercial lending processes, polices, and regulations. Works directly with the Director of Lender Development & Consumer Collections to learn the credit analysis and underwriting processes, as well as attends prospective and existing customer calls. Participates in loan committee meetings to obtain a further understanding of commercial loans. This duty is performed about 40% of the time.
- Works closely with assigned mentor in Residential Lending to gain knowledge of mortgage lending, secondary market, mortgage underwriting, processing, disclosures, and regulations. This duty is performed about 10% of the time.
- Works closely with assigned mentor in Consumer Lending to gain knowledge of personal loan types, credit report analysis, DTI, and collection efforts. This duty is performed about 5% of the time.
- Works closely with assigned mentor in Loan Operations to gain knowledge of loan tracking and documentation processes. Responsible for learning the bank's core loan system. This duty is performed about 25% of the time.
- Completes a wide variety of data input, word processing, copying, correspondence, reports, memos, etc. This duty is performed about 20% of the time.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance, punctuality and personal appearance. Reads, writes, and communicates in a clear and efficient manner via various types of correspondence, such as, in person, phone, email, letters, etc. Adheres to all company policies and procedures, as well as all applicable banking rules, regulations, and laws (including BSA/AML).
- Performs any other related duties as required or assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED. Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, or Accounting and/or at least 5 years of related experience or training.- Regular use of desktop/laptop computer, basic operating systems, and specialized software systems.
- Intermediate experience with alphanumeric data entry, Excel, and word processing software
- Basic experience with PowerPoint/presentation software
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to prepare and interpret graphs.
