- Instructional Support
- Evaluate student data to create small groups and intervention supports that are responsive.
- Progress monitor students who are receiving tier intervention.
- Collaborate with teachers/administrators/staff members about progress and intervention strategies.
- Develop and deliver systematic and targeted literacy intervention for students who qualify for intervention support.
- Plan, model, and co-teach effective lessons in the classroom to increase student learning.
- Collaborate with teachers to improve student understanding of literacy instructional practices resulting in increased student learning.
- Build effective, confidential relationships with teachers and administrators to promote an atmosphere of trust leading to a climate of continuous growth.
- Debrief with, and coach teachers with the goal of improving teacher practice and student learning.
- Promote reflection and growth in teachers’ classroom implementation of best instructional practices.
- Curriculum Specialist
- Assist teachers and district administrators as they work to:
- Write/revise curriculum and assessments.
- Facilitate the integration of various curriculum content areas.
- Provide professional learning for staff to deepen content and curriculum knowledge.
- Assist teachers to understand how standards, essential learnings, and assessments drive daily instruction and expectations of progress.
- Use district approved tools, curriculum, and resources to design instructional materials to meet the needs of all learners.
- Professional Development
- Coordinate learning opportunities for teachers and district administrators.
- Ensure that a variety of professional learning designs are used.
- Plan, facilitate, and deliver high-quality professional development based on needs aligned with district and team goals.
- Provide professional development and guidance for teachers to improve their content knowledge and instructional strategies.
- School Leader
- Facilitate or serve on leadership teams within the school or district.
- Shares latest research and best practices in specific content areas with teachers and district administrators.
- Analyzes data to impact instructional decision making.
- Support building administrators with understanding best practices in English Language Arts.

Other Duties: 1. Attends staff development programs, curriculum development meetings, and other professional activities. 2. Keeps current with research. 3. Performs any other related duties as assigned by the school principal or other appropriate administrators.

Required PA Certifications and Experience: K-12 Reading Specialist and/or K-6 Elementary or a PK-4 Elementary and/or 4-8 ELA concentration; a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience; current Act 34, Act 151, Act 114, and Act 24 (PDE6004 Form) clearances.
Preferred PA Certification and/or Experience: Experience planning and delivering differentiated small group literacy instruction within an elementary workshop instructional framework; experience participating in and/or leading recent curriculum development

Elementary Literacy Specialist
(Full-Time Contracted Position)
Position Purpose:
The Literacy Specialist is responsible for supporting the implementation of a comprehensive literacy program, including providing direct, systematic literacy instruction to students. The literacy specialist will support and guide teachers and staff in best practices for instruction across content areas through coaching and professional development that enables teachers and staff to be reflective and responsive to students. Data collection and analysis will be facilitated and administered leading to the development of instructional small groups and/or conferring for individual students and best practices in support of all learners. Collaboration amongst staff members including building and district level administrators will be expected to ensure the consistency of instructional frameworks within Great Valley.
