Job Summary:

Great Western Trailer (GWT) is a dynamic trailer Sales, Leasing, and Rental company in significant growth mode. The company is headquartered in CA and currently has operations in Fontana, CA; Albuquerque, NM; Grant’s Pass, OR; Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Dearborn, MI; Tulsa, OK; Oklahoma City, OK; and Salt Lake City, UT. GWT is seeking expansion into other sites in its current footprint, as well as into other cities across the country.

GWT currently seeks a well-qualified Recruitment Manager to fulfill the company’s HR talent needs across the business. Critical to the success of this role will be the ability to target potential candidates, screen for both hard and soft skillsets, identify what makes a great GWT employee, and screen applicants efficiently, presenting qualified candidates for positions within the company. The ideal person for this job will be someone who has HR extensive recruitment experience in the heavy equipment industry, interviewing bilingual candidates including those with English as a second language, and sales representatives- while collaborating with hiring managers on their needs.

This person should have extensive experience with the following: draft precise job descriptions, prioritize skills within a role, recruit candidates throughout the interview process, provide effective feedback to candidates not selected, and represent the company in a professional manner. The person performing this role must be able to manage confidential information appropriately and scale up or down from small task management to coordinating the HR Team needs. This person will have occasional travel to GWT sites and meet resources.

This role will be based in Houston, TX office.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with hiring managers to understand the needs and roles to be filled; reviews job descriptions for vacancies.
  • Assists with the development and revision of specifications and job descriptions for selected positions.
  • Identifies the most effective methods for recruiting and attracting candidates.
  • Drafts recruitment advertisements; posts and/or places ads in the most effective digital and/or print media for open positions.
  • Selects one or more placement agencies to assist with recruitment process.
  • Identifies appropriate candidates and assesses their qualifications through prescreening activities, review of their resumes, interviews, reference checking, and other forms of communications or assessments.
  • Connects qualified candidates with hiring managers.
  • Maintains contact with candidates to keep them apprised of the status of their applications.
  • Vets potential employees’ credentials and qualifications.
  • Provides advice to hiring managers regarding salary negotiations with final candidates.
  • Facilitates contacts by creating and maintaining a presence in the technical/industry community and marketplace.
  • Attends job fairs and industry conferences; runs company booth at job fairs.
  • Achieves hiring benchmarks relating to time to fill, cost per hire, diversity hiring, hiring manager and candidate satisfaction.
  • Manage all data associated with the recruitment process.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Keep up-to-date with new technological trends in order to form strategic conversations with managers on future hiring needs.

  • Must have detailed understanding of full-cycle recruitment process- from need to staring day in role. Thorough understanding of recruiting methods and best practices, as well as applicable policies and federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Must possess excellent observational and interpersonal skills; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships through online communication means.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Comfortable with technical requirements, able to translate required technical skills or processes requirements for future candidate understanding.
  • Solid skills with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Excel.
  • Bi-lingual Spanish preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related technical and/or human resources field required.
  • At least eight years of related recruiting experience required, heavy equipment industry a plus.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
  • SHRM’s Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to travel extensively on recruiting assignments.
