Job Summary:
The skating rink attendant is responsible for completing the daily tasks designed to ensure and maintain a safe and welcoming environment at the Easton skating rink.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
· Keep all areas of the rink area neat, clean, and safe at all times. Report any ice or standing water on the rink to GEDP management.
· Open skating facility at beginning of each shift, including set up of POC for skate rentals and online ticket sales, set up signage, turn on outdoor lights, and setting up music.
· Manage ticket sales and skate rentals. Collect and file waivers from customers.
· Clean skates after each use and maintain organization in skate hut. Ensure skates are clean and correctly paired at the beginning and end of each shift.
· Offer excellent customer service to all patrons. Greet customers with a smile and respond to their needs in a kind and courteous manner.
· Clean and sharpen skates. Full training in this area will be provided.
· Process all sales accurately through POS system.
· Close skating facility at the end of each shift, including collecting any garbage/debris, shutting down music and outdoor lighting, removing signage, and shutting down/returning POS system to GEDP office.
· Other duties as assigned.
· Attendant must be available to work Friday – Sunday, day and evening hours, specifically Fridays: 4-8pm (November 26, 12-8pm), Saturday: 12-8pm, and Sunday: 12-6pm
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
· Ability to work well in a team environment is required.
· Prior customer service experience is preferred.
· Must be able to take direction from the Shift Manager and complete all tasks as assigned.
· Must have the ability to recognize problems as they arise and bring them to the attention of the Shift Manager.
· Must be able to assume a positive and active role at the rink, even while working under potentially stressful conditions (weather, upset or injured participants, etc.).
· Must have the ability to be firm with participants when necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants, facilities, and equipment. An ability to interact and communicate well with others is essential.
· Ability to understand and carry out verbal and/or written instructions efficiently and effectively.
· Be able to follow safety guidelines and exercise good judgment in all aspects of responsibility.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
· Must be able to stand continuously through shift to greet customers and run POS equipment.
· Bending and reach continuously through shift to clean, sharpen, distribute, and receive ice skates, turn equipment on and off, and post signage.
· Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions, including but not limited to, cold (at times severe), light snow, and wind.
Salary and Benefits:
This position will be paid on a hourly basis.
