Assistant Teacher (Part-Time)
The Position
Under the direct supervision of the School Site Supervisor, the Assistant
Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality care (socializing,
engaging in activities and interacting with large groups) to children enrolled
in School Age programming. This role is responsible for assisting in the
implementation of consistent and developmentally appropriate activities.
Following licensing procedure and policy as prescribed by the State of
Michigan. Maintaining high personal standards, consistent child
engagement and customer service, while carrying out the mission of
Greater Midland are imperatives.
Major Job Responsibilities
Assist with documentation of activities, parent/guardian and staff
communications and behavior management interventions.
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child.
Engage with children at their level.
Build and maintain healthy and supportive relationships with
children, parents/guardians and staff.
Communicate with parents through written and verbal means.
Maintain positive relationships with Midland Public-School staff
and faculty.
Follow State of Michigan licensing rules at all times.
Complete a minimum of 16 hours of professional development
annually.
Maintain CPR/First Aid certification as needed.
Qualifications
Be at least 18 years of age
Earned a High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
Experience working with children (preferred)
DHHS Clearance, IChat
TB test required
CPR/First Aid Certification (within 90 days of employment)
Fingerprints on file with the State of Michigan
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Ability to continuously physically engage
at a child’s level. Bending, twisting and reaching is required.
