Job Posting for TEACHER; ANIMAL SCIENCE - WILDWOOD EDUCATION CENTER at Greater Southern Tier BOCES
Full-time (1.0 FTE), 10-month school calendar position
- Instruct secondary students in basic knowledge and skills of Animal Science, e.g., care of various animals; handling, grooming, cleaning, feeding; exotic animal husbandry; anatomy and physiology of various animals; various diseases and how to recognize them; understanding environmental rules, codes and safety requirements for housing and caring for small animals; various parasites and treatments
- Assist secondary students in developing appropriate learning attitudes
- Assist with adapting education equipment and materials to best fit the learning style of the individual students
- Draft appropriate annual goals and short-term objectives on a regular basis throughout the school year
- Monitor student progress
- Keep abreast of changes and developments in the field by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications
- Consult regularly with parents, teachers, home school counselors and all others involved with the education of the student
- Maintain discipline in the classroom and work sites
- Carry out all other duties as assigned
