Green Hills Group, LLC has provided environmental consulting and analysis for over 20 years. We provide a high level of service to our clients which include individuals, businesses, industrial facilities, and municipalities.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Supervise and perform the daily activities of water and wastewater operations to successfully operate and maintain facilities. Evaluate, report, coordinate and complete necessary mechanical repairs. Oversee special projects. This position requires maintenance experience, initiative, good judgment, strong communication and organizational skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Coordinates and oversees water and wastewater operations activities to ensure compliance with the policies and procedures of Operations & Maintenance. This includes, but is not limited to:

· Monitoring daily treatment processes and adjusting procedures to adapt to changing conditions within plants.

· Compiling, interpreting, and reviewing data on a regular basis. Investigating any variances found and implementing corrective action if necessary.

· Ensuring safety procedures are followed by all Operations staff.

· Developing and maintaining positive relationships with clients, vendors and contractors for goods and services related to water and wastewater operations.

· Estimating time and resources to accomplish tasks and projects in both planned and unplanned situations.

· Supervises and directs daily activities of water and wastewater of 3-5 people.

· Coordinates the development, review, and maintenance of standard operating procedures.

· Develops, implements, and coordinates cross-training and education programs to improve and diversify staff skills and knowledge.

· Approves leave time of staff to ensure adequate level of service within the department. Reviews, edits, and approves time records and documentation for processing according to established procedures.

· Provides staff performance feedback and coaching on an ongoing basis.

· Serves as a member of the management on-call team to respond to limited after-hour situations and emergencies.

· Provides annual budget data for specified categories as requested.

· Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills to meet routine assignments or project deadlines. Demonstrates initiative and judgment to complete tasks in efficient and effective manner.

· Demonstrates flexibility to respond to changing situations to meet current needs, deadlines, or tasks.

· Organizes job functions and work area to effectively complete varied assignments within established time frames.

· Assists with special projects and performs additional duties upon request.

· Participates in required training and educational programs and integrates learning into job role.

· Performs additional duties as requested.

· Meets and maintains scheduled attendance requirements.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:

· A thorough knowledge of the English language, business arithmetic, and a comprehensive knowledge of wastewater treatment plant operations. College level course work in water treatment, chemistry, biology or other related fields is preferred, but not required. Position requires a Class I Louisiana Wastewater Operations license or out-of-state equivalent and/or the ability to obtain a Louisiana license within 6 months.

· A minimum of 3 years previous experience in utility operations is preferred as is previous supervisory experience.

· Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.

· Strong interpersonal skills to courteously, effectively, and tactfully communicate and/or work with clients, employees, vendors, and contractors.

· Analytical and organizational skills and attention to detail.

· Problem solving and troubleshooting skills with relation to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment.

· Ability to work from blueprints, schematic drawings, and operational manuals.

· Current Class D driver’s license, a safe driving record, and the ability to be covered by commercial vehicle insurance

· Ability to proofread and check documents for accuracy on an ongoing basis.

· Basic computer skills are required to submit written assessments, enter facility data, prepare work orders and general internal communications.

Physical Requirements:

· Work requires ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 10 pounds daily and up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Work requires ability to reach and grab with arms and hands from ankle level to overhead heights for up to 2 minutes at a time on an occasional basis. Work requires manual dexterity to check equipment operation and repairs.

· Work requires the ability to walk around plant daily. Work requires the ability to walk over rough terrain and/or uneven surface in all types of weather conditions on an occasional basis.

· Work requires ability to climb ladders and stairs daily.

· Work requires the ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and maneuver in small spaces for up to 5 minutes at a time on a weekly basis while observing staff or equipment operation.

Working Conditions:

· Approximately 25-50% of time is spent in a normal office environment where there are relatively few discomforts due to temperature, dirt, noise, or odors. Approximately 50-75% of time is spent in various locations including water treatment facilities. This may result in exposure to extremes in temperatures, inclement weather conditions, loud noises, odors, and other situations associated with water treatment operations.

Pay: From $38,000.00 per year
