This position entails full oversight of the division and its personnel, as well as securing major projects for the company. The ideal candidate will be either local to Columbus, OH, or familiar with the market, possess a robust customer base, and have a background in concrete construction.
Director of Field Operations
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain effective communication and foster positive relationships with corporate staff, subcontractors, design professionals, and project owners.
- Supervise concrete construction projects, ensuring strict adherence to plans and specifications, and capable of planning and executing all phases of concrete work, including layout.
- Regularly visit project sites to monitor progress and communicate with supervisors.
- Provide guidance to ensure projects are completed on schedule, which may involve hands-on work as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards set by the company and regulatory agencies.
- Follow company policies and procedures in all interactions with management, subcontractors, owners, employees, and labor representatives.
- Oversee all required tests and inspections to ensure they are performed in the correct sequence.
- Conduct quality control audits to ensure materials and construction methods meet specified standards.
- Assist office staff with reviewing project estimates.
- Create effective communication procedures with superintendents and field supervisors.
- Attend monthly Field Operations Meetings.
- Participate in ongoing training programs.
- Establish positive relationships with local officials, business owners, residents, inspectors, and owner representatives.
- Engage in public and customer relations activities.
- Contribute to pre-bid planning and strategy sessions with estimators and project managers.
Qualifications:
- 10 years of experience, minimum, in the construction sector; large concrete project experience highly preferred
- Associate's/Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field preferred but not required
- Proven experience managing small to medium-sized teams
- Organized individual who excels in leading teams
- Experience in the latest construction technologies including Procore
