Summary:
As a Risk Analyst, you will play a critical role in ensuring that the company's risk-taking entities are aware of the risks inherent in their activities and decisions, the impact of their decisions on the company at an enterprise level, and opportunities to reduce, mitigate, and monitor risk across the organization. You will work collaboratively across the enterprise to provide financial analysis support to internal stakeholders. You will be a vital partner and advisor to the business, reaching across disciplines and organizational structures to serve the broader organization. You will have access to risk and business leaders, including the Green Plains Executive Leadership team. Given the importance of achieving consistent, mature, and sophisticated risk infrastructures that proactively identify, monitor, and risks, this role offers exciting opportunities for professional growth and contribution to strategic initiatives.
The Risk Analyst is part of the Green Plains Risk Management and Finance organization, under the direct leadership of the Chief Financial Officer. This position will report to the Senior Risk Manager, working in tandem with other Risk analysts and members of the Finance and Data Science teams.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the administration of Green Plains risk exposures across the enterprise to ensure risks are appropriately identified, monitored, and mitigated.
- Support the implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management Program.
- Proactively identify, analyze, and communicate potential risk exposures across the enterprise, including Value-at-Risk (VaR), Stress Tests, Scenario Analysis, and various other risk metrics.
- Model financial, operations, logistics, and commodity data for specific markets and produce ad hoc analysis based on short or long-term market developments, positions, strategies, and prospective impacts.
- Prepare a variety of reports to communicate key operating data, market information, risk metrics, exposures, financial information, and results to senior management.
- Use technical skill sets to design and develop automated processes for metric reporting and risk analytics.
- Work both independently and as a core team member, engaging functional support colleagues across multiple disciplines (i.e., Technology, Commercial, Legal, Operations, etc.), exhibiting strong relationship management and communication skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or related fields.
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience.
- Proven analytical, quantitative, and modeling skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to query, extract and manipulate complex data files in SQL preferred.
- Experience within an Enterprise Risk Management framework preferred.
- Experience with agricultural or energy markets preferred.
- Completion or progress towards CFA professional qualification is a plus.
