Cashier/Customer Service

The Cashier/Customer Service Representative is a key member of the supermarket team, responsible for providing friendly, efficient, and accurate service to customers at the checkout counter. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle transactions quickly and accurately while delivering exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:

• Customer Service: Greet customers as they approach the checkout counter, inquire about their shopping experience, and assist with any questions or concerns they may have. Provide friendly and attentive service to ensure a positive shopping experience.
• Checkout Operations: Scan and bag items, process payments, and issue receipts accurately and efficiently using cash registers or point-of-sale (POS) systems. Handle cash, credit/debit cards, and other forms of payment securely and in accordance with company policies.
• Product Knowledge: Develop a basic understanding of supermarket products, prices, and promotions to assist customers with locating items, providing product information, and offering recommendations as needed.
• Customer Assistance: Assist customers with locating products, checking prices, and redeeming coupons or discounts. Handle returns, exchanges, and refunds according to company policies and procedures.
• Cash Handling: Count and reconcile cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift to ensure accuracy. Follow proper procedures for handling cash, balancing transactions, and reporting any discrepancies to management.
• Cleanliness and Organization: Maintain a clean and orderly checkout area, including conveyor belts, bagging stations, and surrounding areas. Ensure that merchandise displays are neat and well-stocked, and promptly clean up any spills or messes.
• Security and Loss Prevention: Monitor customer activity and be alert to potential theft or fraudulent activity. Follow security procedures to prevent shrinkage and loss, such as checking identification for age-restricted items and verifying the authenticity of large bills.
• Teamwork: Collaborate with other supermarket staff members to ensure smooth operations and provide assistance as needed in other areas of the store, such as stocking shelves, replenishing merchandise, or assisting with customer inquiries.

Job Type: Part-time
