SUMMARY
Plans, develops, maintains, and promotes an effective plant environmental program consistent with corporate environmental policies and procedures and takes measures to reduce or eliminate environmental accidents and hazards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and administers plant environmental programs and coordinates environmental training programs.
- Conducts regular planned inspections to detect unsafe environmental conditions and work practices and promptly report's findings with recommendations for corrective action and follow-up.
- Where equipment, machines, or practices present an immediate and imminent danger of environmental damage, exercises judgment to shut down the operations.
- Monitors paint usage related to the air permit; arranges for the pick-up of hazardous and non-hazardous material; and ensures that the stormwater program is working properly.
- Maintains environmental records, reviews and analyses environmental reports to ensure that the environment is protected and takes corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
- Prepares and submits routine and special environmental reports on air, land, and water as required by the state and federal agencies and keeps the Plant Managers informed.
- Ensures that safety and housekeeping standards are met and maintained.
- Performs other duties as directed by the Manager Safety and Environmental.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Requires a high school diploma, associates degree or higher in Environmental studies or Engineering preferred.
- At least one (1) years' experience in industrial safety or environmental safety.
- Prefer familiarity with environmental reporting and programs.
