Probation Officer, Deputy Director and Director, supervises those clients placed on Bond and Community Control; assignment to a specialized caseload or other special duties as determined by the Director and Deputy Director. Primary responsibility is to promote public safety to the community through the active supervision of clients, as well as actively supporting the values of the Adult Probation Department and the Judges of the General Division. Assist with all criminal justice officials, agencies, institutions, and treatment providers; insure that proper mental health and substance abuse treatment is provided to the clients; monitor the progress of Court ordered treatment programs; facilitate the re-socialization and reintegration of clients into the community through accountability and competency, thereby lowering the client’s risk of recidivism. Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The ability to work well with co-workers and maintain professionalism.Provide culturally-competent services to clients, the public and colleagues in a manner which is sensitive to the service population and socioeconomic characteristics. Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.Maintain a healthy working relationship with community agencies and criminal justice partners.Participate in and successfully complete training and other job-related education.Recommend and enforce Court-ordered sanctions for clients. Operate urinalysis and breathalyzer testing equipment.Assist other staff in the performance of their duties. Perform special duties as assigned by the Court, Director or Deputy Director. Maintain issued equipment; firearms, and other less than lethal weapons.Provide a timely response to violations of supervision terms and conditions. Maintain strict confidentiality with respect to information obtained during the operation of the department programs. Make appropriate recommendations to the Court as to sentencing, bond amounts and/or conditions, and other dispositional matters based on verified information in compliance with the statues and sentencing guidelines of the Ohio Revised Code. Supervise caseloads according to client contact standards for client’s home, office, employment, and social services agencies. Ensure compliance with client payment agreements, financial sanctions such as vacated fines, court costs, etc.Ensure that all investigative reports are completed accurately, timely, and in conjunction with department values.Interview clients concerning Pre-Sentence Investigations /Bond Conditions/Court Ordered Supervision.Supervision of all assigned clients prior to final disposition/or after disposition.Effectively addresses risk and need issues of clients through referral to appropriate resource providers.Successfully complete Probation Officer Academy and State Certification Testing for Firearm. Successfully re-qualify annually in state firearms training.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
EQUIPMENT USED: *Firearm,*Less than Lethal weapons, Portable Radio, Electronic Equipment,*Restraint Devices, Various Word programs, Office machines, Courtview, and Ohio Community Supervision System (OCSS).WORKING CONDITIONS: Indoor work performed in temperatures within the normal comfort zone; outside work involving different climate changes; potential exposure on a routine basis to communicable illness and disease; Potential physical interaction with offenders. Incumbents may be subjected to personal injury, physical violence, blood, and body fluids. Work hours consist of forty-hour (40) work week. No appointment is final until the appointee has satisfactorily served the probationary period. If the service of the probationary employee is unsatisfactory, the employee may be removed at any time during the probationary period. This position is grant funded. The continuation of this position under this grant and any potential renewal of this grant is at the discretion of the Bureau of Community Sanctions and/or the Greene County Common Pleas Court. Continued future employment is not guaranteed.DRUG FREE WORKPLACE: While Ohio has enacted H.B. 523, Ohio’s Medical Marijuana law, the law specifically states that employers are not required to permit or accommodate an employee’s use, possession or distribution of medical marijuana. The Adult Probation Department is a drug-free workplace and the employee’s use, possession or distribution of medical marijuana is prohibited. The Adult Probation Department receives several grants which require the Department maintain a drug-free workplace policy.
