Job Posting for Career Coach at Greene County Schools
The CTE Career Coach will report to the CTE Director. The CTE Career Coach will serve one of the four high schools in Greene County and is responsible for helping high school students define their career aspirations and identifying technical school or college programs and/or training to meet those aspirations and achieve their educational goals. The CTE Career Coach will empower students to make informed decisions regarding career and educational plans in preparation for success in post-secondary education and training. The CTE high school coach will work with middle school Career Exploration teachers, counselors, and administrators in assisting middle school students in planning for their high school careers in meeting their career aspirations and goals.
Essential Functions:
Career Coaches will work with students to determine the appropriate assistance using activities such as those listed below:
Meet one on one with students to determine academic and career goals.
Work in collaboration with high school counselors to promote CTE options/careers and develop Career Development Plans
Engage students, counselors, faculty, parents, and all other stakeholders with information sessions related to career opportunities.
Provide career exploration, planning, and development guidance and college/technical school advisement to high school student
Work with the District Work Based Learning Coordinator and assist students in applying for internships, apprenticeships, and work-based learning opportunities in their area including participating in job shadowing and mentoring opportunities to further career exploration and to build interest in local workforce opportunities.
Provide supportive interventions to help students succeed in high school/college/ technical courses; providing academic success strategies to facilitate successful transition, foster progression, and promote completion of industry credentials.
Maintain accurate and adequate student records to assist in academic/career advising and registration of high school learners
Plan, develop, and implement exploration opportunities with Guidance Counselors and Associate Principals, including college campus visits, career fairs, industry visits, parent sessions, and similar activities.
Maintain quality partnerships with local business and industry leaders to promote career readiness among students and develop career exploration opportunities (job-shadowing, internships, industry tours, etc.)
Maintain accurate and adequate student records to assist in academic/career advising and registration of high school learners
Work collaboratively with both High School and Middle School Counselors, Administrators, Teachers (particularly teachers of students in special populations), and the CTE Director to ensure all students needs are being met and the career plan is being followed.
Maintain quality partnerships with secondary school personnel in collaboration with the CTE Director and meet with teachers particularly teachers of students in special populations to ensure the students enroll in courses based on their career goals and aspirations.
Conduct academic and career advising sessions with students.
Plan, develop, and implement programs, working directly with parents of participants to educate them on workforce opportunities and educational opportunities (including available financing of these) for their children.
Provide assistance to students during their transition from secondary to
postsecondary institutions.
Monitor student progress in high school/college/technical classes and work with students, parents/guardians, and instructors to develop plans for success, i.e., track attendance, academic progress, etc.
Participate in team meetings and professional development activities, as recommended by the CTE Director
Perform other duties as assigned by the CTE Director.
