General Summary:
This position involves the ability to procure purchase parts and materials as needed to support Greenheck’s manufacturing requirements at the lowest cost from quality suppliers. This includes responsibilities around resolving any procurement, quality, invoice and inventory related issues including appropriate SAP transactions. Component usage/analysis and the ability to effectively communicate both internally and externally are also critical activities of this position.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Procurement of materials and/or component parts in a timely manner to meet the company production schedule.
- Create purchase orders (POs) within the ERP System (SAP) and schedule deliveries on a daily basis.
- Participate in the negotiation of suppliers/categories assigned to the Buyer desk. This includes pricing, packaging/shipping, identifying potential suppliers, contract terms, quality, and all other aspects of the procurement program.
- Meet with suppliers to negotiate favorable pricing and build long-term partnerships. Including accountability for acknowledging daily purchase order confirmations from suppliers and proactively sharing any discrepancies with the appropriate teams.
- Coordinate with production scheduling sales and engineering departments to obtain information, resolve problems and identify purchasing requirements for new or redesigned products.
- Identify and develop alternate sources of supply for key parts and materials.
- Maintain knowledge of and inform other departments of new developments in material, equipment, and techniques.
- Maintain quality standards and resolve problems related to unsatisfactory materials received.
- Participate in value engineering projects.
- Support all levels of the organization as it relates to their involvement in the procurement of goods through the supply chain. These groups include, but are not limited to, material specialists, engineering, accounting, buying/planning, sales, and operations.
- Maintain integrity in Buyer interaction.
- Support and participate in continuous improvement efforts.
Business Unit Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) with an understanding of ERP/SAP system processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a written and verbal manner to individuals and groups throughout all organizational levels.
- Familiar with supply chain logistics and production planning concepts, while pushing forward to continuously improve the current structure in place.
- Service oriented, with a sense of persistence and tolerance, working with our outside suppliers and internal work groups.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field preferred; with 3-5 years related experience in a manufacturing setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience with a minimum of an Associate’s degree.
Work requires extensive technical or specialized training such as that which would be acquired in the first two or three years of college or technical school.
Moderate analytical ability required.
