Responsibilities
Job Purpose:
The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the Finance team and financial operations of the organization. This includes oversight of the Radisson Plaza Hotel & Suites and the Kalamazoo Country Club, while supporting Wings Event Center and Wings West. In addition, this position will work closely in collaboration with the Corporate Chief Financial Officer. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Finance plays a crucial role in strategic financial planning, risk management, and ensuring the organization's financial health and compliance.
What You’ll Be Doing
Develop and execute the organization's financial strategy aligned with overall business objectives.
Provide financial insights and recommendations to the CEO and Executive Leadership team to support decision-making.
Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and forecasts.
Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and standards.
Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with department heads.
Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget, providing variance analysis.
Identify and assess financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard the organization's assets.
Manage cash flow and liquidity, ensuring the organization's ability to meet its financial obligations.
Optimize operating capital and capital structure.
Evaluate and recommend financing options, including debt and equity.
Manage relationships with financial institutions and external stakeholders.
Provide financial analysis and recommendations on strategic KPIs.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Ensure compliance with all tax regulations.
Coordinate with external auditors to conduct annual audits and reviews.
Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the organization's tax position.
Provide leadership to the finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
Mentor and develop finance staff, ensuring a high level of expertise and professionalism.
Communicate financial performance, risks, and strategies effectively to internal and external stakeholders.
Build strong relationships with investors, analysts, and the financial community.
Stay current on financial technology trends and oversee the implementation of finance-related systems.
Leverage technology for process improvements and efficiency.
Lead and build a strong culture within the Finance Team.
Assist the Corporate CFO with special projects as needed.
Qualifications
What You Need for this Position
BS in Accounting or Finance, MBA and/or CPA highly desirable
5 years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and with staff at remote locations essential.
Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.

Able to work closely with staff through strong communication and verbal skills
