Must have inpatient experience as well as past supervisor experience.The nursing supervisor will support all areas of the hospital. Med/Surg, ED, CCU, Psych,Mother/Baby, Labor & Delivery. They largely support the Med/Surg units but will also go where is needed (codes etc.)
Shift : Day 3x12-Hour (07:00 - 19:00)

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Associate Chief Nursing Officer acts as a resource to the nursing staff throughout the hospital. S/he has full authority to make decisions regarding nursing practice, as outlined in the Nursing Practice Acts of Massachusetts and within the framework of established hospital policies. Will aslo serve as the administrator in the building in the absence of other management. Has the authority, in emergency situations, to make decisions of broader scope within this framework Job Functions:
1. Assesses clinical nursing practice and makes appropriate recommendations.
2. Participates in performance appraisals of shift nursing personnel, upon request. 3. Directs nursing staff to appropriate resource personnel for management of patient care problems and offers guidance and support to nursing staff for nursing practice
4. Functions as resource support person to individuals/families in crisis
5. Directs procurement of equipment/supplies/records or other items necessary for patient care.
6. Collaborates with Public Relations in order to provide accurate/current information during shift hours.
7. Participates in departmental meetings and policy/procedure/standards review.
8. Maintains and supports patient s rights to care, privacy and respect.
9. Oversees and coordinates work of nursing personnel in the absence of responsible Nurse Director, Associate Chief Nursing Officer, or Vice President for Nursing and Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer.
10. Ensures that a safe environment for all patients and hospital personnel on duty is maintained.
11. Identifies intra/interdepartmental problems and works with appropriate managers to resolve them.
12. In emergency situations, assumes operational administrative authority.
13. Assigns/reassigns nursing personnel according to patient acuity/staffing guidelines.
14. Anticipates patient care needs for services on following shifts and takes appropriate action to meet those needs.
15. Identifies educational needs of personnel and channels them appropriately.
16. Serves as a resource for nursing personnel.
Experience :
Minimum two years current inpatient hospital nursing experience with knowledge of management principles and demonstrated leadership experience required.
