Summary The .5 position is responsible for creating a classroom environment that develops skills in Physical Education. Physical Education skills will be taught through the following areas, as identified by the Greenwich Public Schools Physical Education curriculum; Fitness, Team Sports, Cooperative Learning, Movement Exploration and Movement Concepts.
Responsibilities
Delivers content, concepts, skills and assessments, as designated within the Greenwich Public Schools Physical Education curriculum
Adapts Physical Education content, materials, and methods to develop relevant, sequential lesson plans that inform, guide and challenge students
Develops lesson plans and supplementary learning activities compatible with the departments philosophy and aligned to unit standards;
Provides individualized, small group and large group instruction in order to meet the needs of each student
Evaluates academic and social growth of students, prepares report cards, keeps appropriate records to include attendance reports, inventory checklists and other record keeping activities as necessary
Encourages students to think independently and to express original ideas
Evaluates each student's progress in meeting the class/unit standards for Physical Education
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an effective and productive classroom environment
Communicates with parents and school counselors on student progress
Participates in faculty obligations and the sponsorship of student activities
Qualifications
Graduated from accredited university
Connecticut certification (044 - Physical Education; 043 Health Education)
