Description
GENERAL PURPOSE
Process soiled linen and distribute clean linen in accordance with standard operating procedures in a safe, accident-free manner, as assigned by management. Maintain lobby and public space areas, as assigned by management, in a clean and orderly condition according to standard procedures in a safe, accident-free manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Receive and sort soiled linen into appropriate containers.
Process sorted linen utilizing the washers, dryers, sheet spreaders, ironers, and feeder/folders ensuring finished product is inspected and meets quality standards.
Maintain assigned work area in a clean and safe condition.
Notify supervisor of malfunctioning equipment, supplies needed, damaged linens, to ensure laundry operation is running at maximum efficiency level.
Dust and polish furniture, fixtures and window frames.
Vacuum carpeting, upholstery and drapery.
Clean and shine all glass and metal surfaces.
Empty all smoking materials from ash urns.
Clean offices as assigned.
Remove trash to dumpster.
Clean public restrooms and stock with supplies.
Clean public elevators (inside and out).
Stock housekeeping cart with all necessary supplies.
Notify housekeeping office of malfunctioning equipment, supplies needed or damage to floor covering, upholstery, drapery or electrical fixtures and update housekeeping management on the progress and status of area of responsibility.
OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
No travel required.
Hours: 8 hours per shift; scheduled days and times may vary based on need.

Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge
Ability to speak in language understood by guests and co-workers. Ability to operate industrial laundry equipment.
Ability to read event board and communicate directions to guest.
Comfortable speaking to guests; responding to questions and providing directions to meeting room and F & B outlets.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment.
Skills
Minimal hearing necessary for one-one-one communication, accommodations may be provided.
Excellent vision necessary; emphasis on cleanliness standards and quality control.
Minimal speech communication skills required for one-on-one communication, accommodations may be provided.
Minimal literacy is required.
Abilities
Lifting up to 75 lbs. of linen; pushing up to 75 lbs. of linen; pulling up to 75 lbs. of linen; carrying up to 50 lbs. of linen.
Bending - frequent bending while loading/unloading washers/dryers, sorting linen and folding. No kneeling.
Lifting boxes of supplies, pushing a cart and vacuum, pulling a vacuum (10 lbs.), carrying supplies (20-30 lbs.) daily.
Bending to pick up items on floor, kneeling to clean under furniture - frequently.
Mobility - continuous movement throughout department, will be walking in the public space cleaning all day - 8 hour shift
Continuous standing - 100% of shift.
Climbing ladders of approximately 5-6 feet 5% of year.
No driving required.
Education/Formal Training
No formal education needed.
Experience
Prior laundry experience desirable.
Material/Equipment Used
Chemicals/Agents used: Laundry chemicals and cleaning solutions.
Operation of washer, dryer, feeder/folder, and flat press
Chemicals/Agents used: Brass cleaner, glass cleaner, all-purpose cleaner, bleach, bathroom cleaner. All used daily.
Protective clothing - safety shoes worn approximately 100% of year.
Operation of vacuum, hand vacuum - daily.
Environment
Inside 90% of year.
