Senior Accountant

Greystone Management Solutions (GMS), a division of Greystone Select Incorporated, is a consulting firm specializing in asset management for public institutions. GMS drafts and negotiates leases, licenses, easements, and other real estate documents for transportation agencies including the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) and Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), and manages the agencies’ leased and licensed portfolios.  Our offices are located in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston one block from the Transportation Building.

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Accounting team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Accountant leads the Boston client accounting group, upholding the integrity of financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and promoting operational efficiency. This role encompasses financial oversight, supervision of three accountants/bookkeepers, and the encouragement of interdepartmental collaboration.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise accounting staff operations, including bank reconciliations, agreement entries, and both the monthly and yearly financial close processes.
• Implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures to guarantee accurate and efficient operations.
• Train and cross-train within the accounting department to enhance team flexibility and knowledge.
• Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial reports, aligning with contractual obligations and accounting standards.
• Conduct comprehensive reviews/audits of all significant accounts, specifically focusing on accounts over $5,000, which represent approximately 200 accounts, to maintain financial accuracy and integrity.
• Direct and review all standard monthly closing procedures, ensuring the timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting.

Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 5 years of experience in Accounting, Real Estate, or related fields.
• 2 years of experience supervising or acting as a lead in accounting or billing groups.
• Experience using Yardi, MRI, or a similar software.
• Ability to multitask with good organizational and detail orientation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
