What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Bookkeeper position at Griffin School?
Griffin School is seeking an experienced, energetic, and engaging person to provide bookkeeping and financial management for school operations.
The School Bookkeeper supports the Head of School’s initiatives and decisions regarding the mission of Griffin School and assists him to ensure that the school is operating in a cost-efficient manner according to best financial practices and school policies and procedures.
The duties of the School Bookkeeper include:
- Preparing monthly financial reports;
- Managing and reconciling school bank accounts;
- Handling bookkeeping entries including but not limited to functions such as reconciling bank accounts, payables and receivables on a monthly basis;
- Facilitating and assisting in the management of payroll and staff benefits;
- Maintaining financial files in an orderly and timely manner;
- Managing the school’s tuition management system, including but not limited to processing tuition billing;
- Performing various assignments and projects consistent with the responsibility level and general duties of a school bookkeeper.

Schedule: The school operates on a traditional school calendar. The 2022-23 school year starts for staff members in early August 2021 and ends in early June 2022 with typical school holidays throughout the year. This position includes duties during the summer break.
Requirements:
- Knowledgeable of the principles of accounting
- Business management or accounting experience for schools or nonprofits and/or BA in business, accounting, or related field of study
- Skilled in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and QuickBooks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
