Job Summary
It is the primary role to transport Gritman patients to and from Gritman facilities using Gritman provided vehicles. Safety is always a priority. This is a customer centered service that is offered to all Gritman patrons in need of transportation to appointments at Gritman facilities and/or home from appointments at Gritman facility. Customers are added to the daily schedule as requested according to availability. Some courier type functions may be requested to pick up or deliver supplies. Gas is purchased as needed. The mail (USPS) is picked up, sorted, posted, and delivered according to the mail schedule. May help the Materials department with other duties as time allows.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinates and schedules Gritman patients for transportation in the Microsoft Outlook Van calendar.
- Transports Gritman patients in need safely to and from appointments at Gritman facilities.
- Assists patients as necessary to and from the vehicle when safety is not a risk.
- Monitors and Reports maintenance needs to the Director of Materials.
- Washes and vacuums vehicle as needed to keeps vehicles clean inside and out.
- Pick up mail at the post office, sort, and distribute it daily.
- Utilizes the mail machine to apply postage to outgoing mail daily.
- Provides support with inventory picking, stocking, distribution, walk in requests, receiving and shipping when needed.
- Able to install vehicle winter chains if needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Materials or Materials Supervisor.
Job Requirements
Required Licenses and/or Certifications:
Valid non-restricted Driver’s License Required. (Must have Idaho or Washington within 30 working days of hire date).
Required Work experience:
Working with the public in a customer service position preferred.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
General computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft applications (WORD, EXCEL, OUTLOOK)
Functional Demands
Population(s) served:
Gritman facilities within the greater Moscow vicinity. Outside the local vicinity if the schedule allows and as approved by the Director, Materials Management
Physical demands:
1. Able to operate large van-like vehicles.
2. Able to assist people in and out of the vehicle, some of whom may be wheelchair bound.
3. Must not have visual or hearing impairment that may hinder the safety of operating a motor vehicle.
4. Walking, Standing, Reaching, bending, and sitting.
5. Lifting/carrying up to 50lbs,
6. Pushing and pulling carts weighing up to 100lbs.
7. Pushing patients in wheelchairs that may weigh up to 300lbs.
8. May need to aid patients walking to and from the vehicle.
9. Use of phones, PC's, copy machine, postage/mail machine, hand truck, pallet jack.
Environmental conditions
1. Subject to many interruptions.
2. Operation of hospital vehicles in all weather conditions.
3. Works mostly outside when driving and inside when helping with other departmental duties.
4. Passengers may have some difficulty with speech or mobility.
