GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Franchisor Paralegal to join our legal team. The Franchisor Paralegal will play a crucial role in supporting our franchising operations by providing comprehensive legal assistance and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the preparation and review of franchise disclosure documents (FDDs), franchise agreements, and other legal documents related to franchising.
- Conduct research on franchise laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure compliance with applicable laws in various jurisdictions.
- Collaborate with outside counsel to draft, revise, and negotiate franchise agreements, including terms related to royalties, territory rights, and intellectual property.
- Coordinate the franchise registration process, including filing documents with state regulatory agencies and maintaining registration compliance.
- Manage communication with franchisees regarding legal matters, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to franchising activities, contracts, and legal matters.
- Assist in resolving legal disputes or issues arising between franchisors and franchisees, including mediation and litigation support.
- Stay informed about changes in franchise laws and regulations and update internal stakeholders accordingly.
- Provide training and support to internal teams on franchising legal requirements and best practices.
- Assist in due diligence efforts related to franchise acquisitions or sales.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or related field.
- Paralegal certification preferred.
- 4 years of experience in a Paralegal/Contracts Specialist role.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Proven experience working as a paralegal in a law firm or corporate legal department, with specific experience in franchising or contract law preferred.
- Strong understanding of franchise laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail with excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods at a workstation
- Worker is required to have close visual acuity to view data on a computer terminal, extensive reading at a distance that is close to the eyes.
- Finger dexterity is needed to type on a keyboard frequently
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects from place to place.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $80,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
