Groundswell Design Group is a design firm specializing in placemaking, public space and hospitality. Our projects range in scale from large public parks, land art installations, restaurants and distilleries, to intimate cafés and multi-family projects melding interior and exterior spaces. Each project’s process is specially tailored to the site, drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscape, neighborhood and community to create a unique lifestyle and atmosphere.

Groundswell Design Group creates compelling and highly crafted interior placemaking experiences focusing on the conceptual design through design development stages of design. Although focusing primarily on schematic and design development, Groundswell also partners with architects and consultants to remain a part of the documentation and construction administration process. As a small, but dynamic, studio, candidates would be part of a tightly knit team of Interior Designers working on a wide range of interior hospitality project types.

Groundswell is seeking an Interior Designer with MINIMUM of 6 years of professional experience to join our highly creative and collaborative team. Must have experience in hospitality and commercial design. This role will be supporting the senior level interior design team. The ideal candidate is organized, well versed in all design phases, detail oriented, technically proficient, and adept at handling multiple tasks simultaneously for a diverse range of projects.

Candidate requirements:

  • Masters/Bachelors of Interior Design or Interior Architecture
  • 6 years of professional interior design experience. Must be comfortable working within in all phases of commercial projects from concept to completion.

Ability to meet strict deadlines with great attention to detail, be organized and know when/how to prioritize tasks.

  • NCIDQ certification preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketch-Up and 3D modeling/rendering programs, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficiency in Revit is a plus.
  • Must be able to source precedents, imagery, furniture, material finishes, FF&E, lighting, and possess a working knowledge of current trends and contract/hospitality manufacturers.
  • Knowledge of vintage and custom sources a plus.
  • Solid foundation and understanding of the interior design process, phases, and deliverables. Candidate must be able to assist with all phases of design including concept design, schematic design, design development and construction documentation.
  • Must be able to create strong graphic presentations communicating all aspects of design including concepts/mood boards, technical drawings, renderings, and finish/fixture selections. Candidate must be able to develop design palettes, source samples, and communicate design ideas virtually.

Must possess a positive self-starter attitude along with strong problem-solving ability and resourcefulness; must be able to work independently, and be accountable without constant supervision.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to speak professionally and interface with clients, project consultants, custom fabricators, and vendors.
  • Experience in FF&E (including artwork and accessories) sourcing, specifications, and budgets.

Groundswell has a remote office environment, but the ideal candidate would be located near Philadelphia, PA.
