Groundwork Richmond is a small non-profit organization in Richmond, CA. The mission of Groundwork Richmond is to bring about the sustained regeneration, improvement and management of the physical environment by developing community-based partnerships which empower people, businesses and organizations to promote environmental, economic and social well-being.
Our organization is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual to help facilitate the activities of our Youth Group. In this unique role, you will work with a wonderful group of adolescents who participate in a variety of activities throughout the summer including evironmental justice and outdoor recreational activities. The Youth Coordinator must be capable of making decisions based on the needs of the group and will assist in the planning and implementation of events.
Responsibilities:
- Recruit volunteers for the program.
- Ensure that the program goals are met.
- Manage youth out in the community.
- Manage the risk of harm to youth and staff.
- Understand youth culture and be able to communicate with youth and their families.
- Manage volunteers and supervise staff.
- Be good at working with people and managing teams.
- Understand the problems facing youth in the community.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years training from a certificated program or 1-2 equivalent work experience
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license prior to employment
- Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work - including leading youth on all day/overnight trips that
- include hiking, camping, kayaking, swimming, bicycling, and being in nature
- Ability to approach TAY with a growth mindset attitude and provide trauma informed coaching
- Ability to use G-Suite for nonprofits platform
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Fluency in English, preferred fluency in Spanish
- All Groundwork Richmond staff are mandated reporters and must comply with all related obligations and requirements
- Must be fully vaccinated or willing to become fully vaccinated against Covid-19 prior to employment
