Assistant Baker

Grove Tea Lounge serves the finest responsibly sourced teas, Michigan-roasted coffee & fresh, locally handcrafted food in Midland. Grove came about because two local families saw a need for a community space to celebrate quality tea (brewed to perfection every time), an excellent cup of coffee, and some awesomely nutritious (and occasionally indulgent) eats. We have created a space where our tea drinking friends can bring their coffee drinking friends and each find something that excites them.

Grove is currently seeking an Assistant Baker who is passionate about expanding their food horizons and creating delicious, unique dishes. Our bakers possess an unwavering commitment to mastery by ensuring unequaled quality and attention to detail. They focus on introducing our customers to fun, unique, and delicious foods, delivering the Grove brand, and keeping up with the daily kitchen functions.

Daily Tasks & Responsibilities

In addition to modeling Grove’s culture and values and following policies and procedures, principal responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Taking inventory of ingredients & finished products
• Developing prep schedule/grocery lists based on inventory
• Maintaining sanitation standards: Comply with Health Department, Deep clean equipment & work space, Dishes
• Food purchasing
• Interpreting & following recipes, complete prep list
• Arranging finished products in the display case and prep station
• Communicating with Shift Leaders & the rest of the team throughout the day/week in order to better prioritize production demands
• Occasionally testing new recipes
• Tracking waste
• Flexing mid-shift to quickly replenish food during a rush if we stock out

• Culinary and/or Hospitality education is a plus!
