GS Engineering, a diverse, high-tech company located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, seeks an Engineering Analyst to join their team in Houghton, Michigan. This is a hybrid remote position offering a schedule that works part of the week in-office and the remainder from the comfort of your home. The Engineering Analyst supports activities within the analysis team including efforts for both client projects and internal team activities. Additionally, the Analyst may be required to perform tasks within other disciplines (e.g., design, test, manufacturing) as needed based on overall company workload. As such, this position requires an individual with an excellent technical aptitude, the flexibility to work in a variety of disciplines, and a service-minded attitude and approach.

WHAT YOU WILL DO.
- Perform Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) simulations in a variety of disciplines, primarily structural analysis including static strength, fatigue, and linear dynamics; tasks may involve multi-body dynamics and thermal modeling.
- Utilize current suite of company software tools; provide suggestions for alternate tools to improve efficiency or expand capabilities, as appropriate.
- Perform classic hand-calculations to assess structures where applicable and to augment CAE simulations.
- Interpret results of simulations/calculations relative to design requirements; clearly communicate results and conclusions to internal managers and clients.
- Generate documentation (presentation slides, written reports, Mathcad sheets, organized spreadsheets).
- Maintain awareness of project/task hour allocations for CAE; provide feedback to project managers when tasks may exceed those allowances; actively aspire to meet billability goals.
- Provide input for the development of project plans, schedules, and budgets.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required, or equivalent combination of experience, education and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to be successful in this position.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in design of mechanical systems/structures required.
- 3 years’ experience in structural analysis or similar field preferred.
- Flexibility to work in a variety of disciplines.
- Enthusiasm for excellence and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- To conform to U.S. Government regulations, candidates must be United States citizens or lawful permanent residents of the United States and able to participate in obtaining a security clearance from the Department of Defense upon hire.
