The Director, Vaccine Policy will lead and manage GSK U.S. vaccine policy activities. This individual will be responsible for working across the Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team and the commercial team to drive the U.S. immunization strategy and build healthier communities in the US
The position interacts with internal and external stakeholders to advance GSK’s vaccine policy agenda. Internally, this includes GSK US Vaccine Business Unit, GSK US Legal, GSK US Market Access team, and GSK Global teams. Externally, this position engages and manages the relationship with the key trade association workgroups and engage relevant staff within the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
The areas of remit within the purview of the Director, Vaccine Policy include, but are not limited to;
- Serve as the vaccine subject matter policy expert, contributing to the development and implementation of GSK’s overall vaccine policy agenda in the US.
- In partnership with the Vaccines Business Unit (VBU) and the US Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team, you will provide insight and guidance to US GAPP and the VBU on federal and state policy developments, including building relevant policy positions and advocacy materials to advance vaccine priorities.
- Lead the policy function representation in GSK’s US launch and marketing teams and provide policy support for business strategy development (Shingles, Meningitis, New Product portfolios) and operations/budget planning.
- Drive US immunization policy and advocacy strategies in conjunction with relevant matrix partners, including government affairs, medical, communications, commercial.
- Represent and drive GSK thought leadership on vaccination in key US external vaccine policy forums (e.g., BIO, AVAC).
- Maintain alignment with GAPP leadership team on VBU priorities and strategy.

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; advanced degree preferred.
- Vaccine Policy and Government Affairs experience in a global or local role
- Experience working with trade associations
- Experience of developing, implementing, and measuring policy and advocacy strategies that support commercial objectives
- Track record of successful people engagement and achieving results in cross functional teams and matrixes, and in cross-company collaborations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior vaccine or pharmaceutical industry experience or experience within government agencies (e.g. CMS) is preferred
- A strategic mindset with a focus on flawless execution of key projects
- Self-starter with proactive approach, time management and prioritization skills
- Evidence of excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Experience presenting to, communicating with, and influencing senior management
- Demonstrated analytical and independent problem-solving skills; ability to exercise sound, independent judgment; and drive collaborative decision-making
