The Group Site Director provides strategic leadership for the operations and engineering function for a regional portfolio of sites. It will be accountable for all facilities services in the portfolio, delivering to the Commercial and R&D footprint.
This role will be charged with developing the business plan for the site portfolio, on-boarding new sites and delivering the WREF aspirations within the region in partnership with the COEs. The incumbent will be instrumental in standardizing WREF services and driving performance across the sites within each region or cluster.
The role is required to successfully develop and manage relationships with senior GSK business leaders, deliver all facilities management services in a way which ensures compliance with local, regional and GSK policy, integrate additional sites in to the WREF portfolio, ensure robust risk management practices are in place & in use.
The role is responsible for the management and delivery of services and infrastructure across the region, whilst ensuring that these services support and facilitate all business operations.
As Group Site Director, you will be responsible for the management of high quality, cost-competitive, and operational services for sites which cover management of utilities production and distribution, liquid waste collection/discharge and treatment/site waste water treatment, fire protection, pest control, and employee health services. You will also partner with the technical experts to build the energy management strategy, fulfill long-term corporate requirements, and benchmark other companies.
The purposes of this role are:
- Accountability for delivery of all facilities and services for all WREF locations within the region, ensuring cost, quality and compliance metrics are achieved by key contract partners.
- Responsible for relationship management with GSK Senior Leaders in the region and the interface with the Account Leads of key contract partners to ensure appropriate governance and service delivery.
- Ensure prioritization and delivery of a program of capital projects (including minor works, infrastructure, business driven and energy projects) to mitigate risk, support GSK business strategy and improve site environmental sustainability for the region.
- Implement strategies, policies, standards and guidelines designed in the CoEs, at the site or regional level.
- Ensure that risks associated with WREF service delivery at a site or region are identified and appropriately managed and/or mitigated.

- To implement strategy, policy and standards to deliver key WREF contracts across the region in the areas of engineering (“hard services”), a portfolio of “soft services” and a program of capital projects.
- To be responsible for the contract governance processes and structures to ensure value and delivery in the Service provider contracts, and to ensure effective risk management controls are in place.
- Provide vision, guidance, drive, support and goals for the designated service category teams and program managers accountable for delivering services and projects to the WREF sites within the assigned site grouping.
- Establish and develop key relationships with GSK executive management within the region and the service provider managers to enable to successful delivery of cost savings and service level agreements and act as a key GSK contact with external community, government, or other agencies at a regional level.
- Accountable for ensuring thorough due diligence is completed for all GSK facilities that are to be integrated into the region. Develop solutions for service delivery, act as the key facilities management stakeholder and/or contributor to facilities services tender processes when seeking to appoint external third-party service providers and complete integration in regional portfolio.
- Accountable for the development of regional capital and revenue budgets and governance/delivery of same.
- Accountable for the prioritization and delivery of a program of capital projects (including minor works, infrastructure, business driven and energy projects) for the site grouping, through the management of internal program managers and /or 3rd party project managers.
- Uphold and ensure compliance with internal GSK policies, standards, procedures and relevant external regulatory requirements with respect to Quality, Statutory and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements. Ensure that the Engineering function and activity is always a safe place to work and ‘inspection ready’.
- Duty Holder for external license or statutory Duty Holder requirements in WREF areas of responsibility. This includes Duty Holder for High Severity Risks, such as:
- Asbestos containing materials
- Pressure Systems (steam boilers)
- Hazardous utility systems
- Cooling Towers & domestic water systems (legionella)
- Construction / demolition works
- Building life safety systems
- High voltage electrical
- Stored bulk liquid & gas
- Fixed & mobile lifting systems
- Hazardous waste management
- For Asbestos in particular, responsible for:
- Managing asbestos on the site or sites
- Development and management of the site Asbestos Management Plan (AMP)
- Ensuring compliance with AMP, through Management Monitoring and Independent Business Monitoring
- Ensuring all site support staff are trained in compliance with the AMP
- Maintaining competency within the area of asbestos

- Experience with FM with specialist (discipline) knowledge in one area, e.g., Project Mgmt, Operations, etc.

- Ability to establish strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and key external contract partners, to deliver appropriate site services in agreement with established contracts.
- Ability to think and act strategically and initiate and engage in long term planning.
- Comprehensive awareness of current political developments and emerging external issues.
- Strong ability to act as a motivator of change.
