Overview
Responsible to design, implement and maintain custom processes in a high-volume Tier 1 automotive manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Control Engineers at GT Technologies are highly analytical professionals who examine and improve processes to increase productivity. They are responsible for ensuring that new equipment programing is designed efficiently and that all equipment is properly maintained. Controls Engineers must also be able to work with other departments and external parties to create and implement processes to increase the plant’s efficiency. They must be able to analyze plant processes and help make improvements based on their extensive knowledge of electronics, engineering, and mechanics.
Must have experience integrating industrial robots (Motoman, Denso, Epson) on production equipment;
Responsible for first of a kind design and integration of hardware, software, electrical, and communications into systems for high volume manufacture and assembly of automotive components;
Responsible for the development of real-time software for PLCs and panel or PC-based HMIs;
Debug software and systems, including PLC wiring, automation control networks and HMI;
Must have a thorough understanding of computer hardware and system architecture as it relates to industrial automation systems;
Works with manufacturing engineering personnel and operations support teams to rollout new technologies impacting productivity, including required training, as well as the troubleshooting of current equipment and processes/procedures;
Work with outside representatives in evaluating machine problems and the introduction of new machinery;
Recommends improvements in methods and equipment to achieve maximum safety and productivity and highest quality while operating at an optimum cost level;
Optimizes programs, set-ups, methods, and procedures on a variety of manufacturing equipment and processes;
Assists Maintenance and Engineering in all areas of machine maintenance as relates to set-up, installation, adjusting, repairing, testing, calibrating and operations of line machinery;
Maintain project documentation for ISO and TS requirements and other purposes;
May functionally supervise Technical Specialists, Process Technicians and/or Maintenance Personnel.
Qualifications
Experience in integration of industrial robots to automated lines is required.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electrical, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering preferred;
2-4 years plus of experience in a related field;
Technical proficiency in Siemens and/or Allen-Bradley PLCs;
Must have a fundamental understanding of computer communications and network implementation;
Experience working with relational SQL databases and their applications;
