At Guide Dogs for the Blind, we create exceptional partnerships between people, dogs, and communities. With a network of instructors, puppy raisers, donors, and volunteers, we prepare highly qualified guide dogs and K9 Buddy dogs, provide guide dog readiness skills, and offer youth programs to empower individuals who are blind or visually impaired. We are looking for a Facilities Manager at our San Rafael, CA campus, GDB’s National Headquarters, to oversee all aspects of campus infrastructure operations including fleet operations. What you’ll do:
- Manage maintenance and repair work of all critical infrastructure, equipment, fleet (50 vehicles), and grounds in California and maintain preventative and predictive maintenance programs for the CA campus and remote fleet locations. Annual budgetary management responsibility of $5M.
- Perform advanced electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs as necessary
- Manage the Facilities staff (6 full-time staff), including conducting job evaluations and measuring performance against goals and objectives, as well as hiring, training, and mentoring staff
- Coordinate with the leadership team on long-term infrastructure planning and lead or assist with RFPs and management of capital projects
- Oversee all aspects of security and coordinate safety needs with Safety Manager
- Provide on-call support when after-hours emergencies or other issues arise outside of on-call staff’s expertise
The qualifications you’ll need:
- 5 years of experience managing maintenance functions and supervising facilities personnel
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Understanding of and ability to train others in concepts and techniques related to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, architectural, and space planning design
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently, prioritize tasks, plan workflow, coordinate projects, and resolve conflicting demands
- Experience maintaining large fleets of vehicles, including specialized and/or custom vehicles preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proficiency in MS Office required; Knowledge of E-Maint, HMI/HVAC, and AutoCAD software preferred
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
