Reinsurance Accountant

The Reinsurance Accountant is responsible for the accounting and reporting of various tasks with respect to outside reinsurers, reinsurance brokers and related parties. This position serves as the point person for reinsurance accounting questions and works closely with individuals in the Reinsurance and Finance space, and speaks to all reinsurance accounting results to senior leadership. Ensure that the general ledger reflects all accounting transactions and prepares timely reconciliations. 

As the Reinsurance Accountant, you will be responsible for the following:

·         Responsible for the preparation of monthly or quarterly accounting entries for reinsurance.

·         Reviews profit commission accounts and adjust accordingly. 

·         Prepares account reconciliations on a timely basis according to the established accounting policy.

·         Point person for reinsurance accounting. Provides oversight for reinsurance accounting product.

·         Speaks to Senior Management about Reinsurance Accounting when needed.

·         Responsible for the various internal/external reporting (Schedule F) and analysis.

·         Assists others in the department with various accounting and statutory reporting requirements (annual statement, quarterly statement, supplemental reporting).

·         Assist in preparation of confirmations for annual financial statement audit.

·         Monitor reinsurance receivable/payable balances to ensure timely collections.

·         Assist with counterparty credit analysis and collateral.

·         Assist Senior Reinsurance Manager with data and information requests for the treaty renewals and reinsurer audits.

·         Other duties as assigned.
