THE POSITION
The Company Management department of the Guthrie supports the actor experience, including but not limited to travel arrangements, housing, health, opening/closing night parties, meet and greets, and general support to Guthrie actors. The Assistant Company Manager supports Company Management with responsibilities in the areas of Artist travel and management of support staff ensuring a productive and enjoyable Guthrie experience for all Artists. All employees are expected to center, model and champion the Guthrie’s core values of Artistic Excellence, Community, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and Fiscal Responsibility.
This position is part-time and non-exempt. Compensation for this position is $17.12 – $21.15 per hour. This position's hours are reflective of the dynamic schedule of the theater. Anticipated hours are 20-25 hours per week, including nights and weekends and on-call availability.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Artist Wellbeing and Hospitality

  • Provide services to maintain artists’ wellbeing to create a successful workplace environment.
  • Work as a team with the Company Manager to answer or redirect questions and assist artists as needed.
  • Maintain relationship with physicians who provide for the company’s medical needs.
  • Create and maintain an information/welcome packet to be given to visiting artists upon arrival.
  • Facilitate security badges for artists.
  • Maintain Actor database in Tessitura.
  • Arrange for pick up and drop off of visiting artists’ shipped items
  • Welcome and orient all understudies.
  • Develop email groups and final contact documents for each production.
  • Set up welcome bags and welcome paperwork/information for the cast on the day of first rehearsal.
  • Will do grocery shopping runs in conjunction with the Company Manager.
  • Coordinate opening night and closing night parties, including set-up and take-down of furniture and supervision of catering personnel.

2. Travel and Housing

  • Assist with travel arrangements for Actors and Directors to balance convenience for Actors and Directors with financial management for the Theater.
  • Will provide airport runs for visiting artists.
  • Maintain the travel spreadsheet.
  • Assist with housing.
  • Assist with housing maintenance and management.
  • Maintain good working relationships with local vendors.
  • Maintain cleaning schedule for apartments with our provider.
  • Track housing expenses and supplies.

3. Administration

  • Attend Weekly Show meetings as needed.
  • May assist with contracts, leases, and other agreements as needed in conjunction with the Company Manager.

ESSENTIAL* KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Theater experience is a plus. Preference provided to candidates with prior company management or stage management experience.
  • Commitment to working with diverse groups in terms of gender expression, race, sexual orientation, religion, ability, age, class, and immigrant status.
  • Knowledge of and basic experience working with contracts, leases, and other agreements.
  • Knowledge of and understanding of services available in the community and how to access them.
  • Demonstrated skills communicating effectively and persuasively in oral and written communication both on an interpersonal and group level.
  • Proficient computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean safety record. Ability to drive a Guthrie vehicle and transport visiting artists.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds regularly throughout a shift.
  • Experience exercising professional discretion and confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience and commitment to working with individuals and teams that are mixed across lines of difference such as race, gender-identity, sexual orientation, religion, ability, age, class, and immigrant status.
