Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs non-sterile compounding per strict USP 795/800 guidelines
- Performs sterile compounding per strict USP 797 guidelines
- Creates new formulas and logs, including performing necessary pharmaceutical calculations, under supervision of the compounding pharmacist
- Compounds the following non-sterile, non-hazardous formulations: capsules, creams, gels, nasal sprays, suppositories, suspensions, and troches.
- Compounds the following non-sterile, hazardous formulations: capsules, creams, and gels.
- Compounds the following sterile formulations: IV's, injections, and ophthalmic drops.
- Cleans and maintains the sterile compounding cleanrooms.
- Cleans, maintains, and calibrates (as necessary) all compounding equipment, to include: laminar airflow hoods, powder hoods, biological safety cabinets (BSC’s), scales, unguators, ointment mills, capsule machines, centrifuges, dry-heat sterilizers, and incubators
- Manages compounding inventory, to include chemicals, bases, devices, cleaning supplies, office supplies, personal protective equipment (PPE), and batched inventory.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes in workflow
- Ability to continuously learn new techniques, tasks, and general pharmacy functions, including using the register, interfacing with customers, using the dispensing software interface, compounding software interface, pack-and-ship software interface, and learning all non-sterile, hazardous, and sterile compounding techniques and best practices
- Ability to function well in a team or independently with minimal supervision
- Will be cross-trained in both sterile and non-sterile compounding and expected to perform tasks for both areas in support of customer needs and workflow demand

- Experience and Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- One year of pharmacy experience required
- One year of non-sterile or sterile compounding experience required
- Pharmacy Technician License and Certification required
- Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) preferred
- Experience with PK and/or Pioneer software preferred
