This Position:
We are seeking a collaborative and forward-thinking Director of Engineering who understands what drives software engineering success and how to navigate challenges. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, strong leadership, and the ability to inspire innovation in cloud-based SaaS solutions. This role is key in shaping our engineering practices, aligning technology strategies with business objectives, and fostering a supportive and high-performing team culture.
As a member of the leadership team, you will guide a multi-team engineering organization, mentoring leaders, supporting diverse teams, and contributing to long-term success in a mission-driven environment. Your skills in building scalable, secure systems and addressing complex technical challenges will help us expand our impact.
The Expectation:
System Optimization and Maintenance
- Ensure operational processes and systems meet and exceed performance standards.
- Perform regular inspections, identify system issues, and execute repairs or upgrades.
- Proactively address system alerts and maintain accurate inventory records.
Collaboration and Training
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including developers, software engineers, and quality specialists, to optimize system performance.
- Train personnel on new and upgraded tools, fostering operational excellence and user confidence.
- Provide hands-on technical support for internal systems and applications.
Project Leadership and Support
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Facilitate engineering reviews and operational meetings to drive key initiatives.
- Support hardware installations, racking, cabling, and infrastructure troubleshooting.
Data Management and Reporting
- Monitor and report on system performance metrics, providing actionable insights.
- Develop solutions and unit tests to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Prepare presentations and operational updates for stakeholders.
Security and Compliance
- Implement and adhere to best practices for system security, disaster recovery, and access controls.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
Technical Execution
- Write, test, debug, and integrate code as needed to enhance system workflows.
- Manage cloud-based systems with a focus on high efficiency and reliability.
- Use frameworks and command-line tools to streamline operational processes.
The successful Director of Engineering will have:
Experience & Qualifications:
- 10 years of software engineering management experience, including leadership of multi-team organizations.
- Proficiency in C#.NET MVC, Angular, and cloud-native microservices architectures.
- Proven ability to mentor managers and collaborate with senior leadership to align goals and achieve objectives.
- Expertise in platform-level software engineering and cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience implementing SOC2 compliance and secure development practices.
- Successful track record of technical integration during acquisitions.
- Experience in GovTech or a related industry is a plus.
- Strong people management skills with a focus on empowerment, inclusion, and team-building

Work Location and Arrangement:
gWorks is a hybrid work environment, and preference will be given to candidates who are local to the Omaha, Nebraska area. However, highly qualified candidates who reside outside of the local area and are able to work remotely will also be considered.
- For Omaha-Based Candidates: A hybrid work model, balancing remote work with in-office collaboration on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- For Remote Candidates: Full support for remote work from any US location.

Compensation range: 170,000- 200,000 10% bonus
