Environmental Engineer

GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) has an opening for an Environmental Engineer with at least 5 to 7 years of experience to support our environmental remediation practice in our Hammonton, New Jersey office.  The ideal candidate for this position is an experienced environmental or civil engineer with strong technical skills, regulatory knowledge, and a desire to foster strong client relationships.  We expect the qualified individual to have experience in soil and groundwater remediation design and construction, stormwater engineering, geology, or related environmental science, and be capable of planning, coordinating, and performing projects in compliance with environmental laws and regulations.

As an Environmental Engineer, you will work as part of a team of dedicated project managers and a staff of interrelated professionals under the guidance of a Principal.  You will assist with managing environmental investigations, design, permitting, and remediation projects to ensure that it is safely completed on time and within scope and budget.  Our close-knit culture here at GZA will allow you to grow professionally.  You will be mentored by seasoned professionals, who will in turn look to you to share technical knowledge and ideas.  Our success relies on this collaborative environment.

Key Duties:

• Overseeing project team, delegating to office and field staff, and executing day to day activities of projects
• Conducting internal and client communications
• Monitoring team performance for compliance with contractual agreements and budgets
• Preparing proposals and reviewing/writing environmental reports
• Resolving project contractual and financial issues (including terms of agreement, changes in scope, billing process)
• Managing and mentoring GZA existing staff of project-level scientists and engineers
• Preparing technical design/analyses/calculations
• Participating in meetings and agency consultation
• Design and operation of groundwater treatment, subslab depressurization, and air-sparge/vapor extraction systems
• Design of in-situ chemical oxidation remedies
• Design of earthwork projects including support of excavation
• Stormwater and erosion control design and permitting

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental/Civil Engineering (Master’s Degree a plus)
• Professional Licensure in Pennsylvania and/or New Jersey
• 5 years of experience at consulting engineering firms and knowledge of applicable laws and regulations of Pennsylvania and New Jersey
• Experience executing a wide range of environmental investigation, design and site remediation projects
• MGP and/or emerging contaminant investigation / remediation project experience a plus
• Construction bid specification experience a plus
• Strong interest in safety
• Self-starter, able to complete tasks with minimal supervision and direction
• Demonstrate professional judgment, consistency, strong attention to detail, and background of high-quality work products
• Demonstrate performance of independent analysis, problem solving and strong organizational skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Experience preparing reports that demonstrate technical knowledge
• Completed 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and current 8-hr refresher status
• A valid driver’s license in good standing
