'Partner-owned' means our most important resources--People--drive the innovation, growth, and success that makes H-E-B The Greatest Retailing Company.Do you have a:HEART FOR PEOPLE... leadership skills to influence others during projects? ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders?HEAD FOR BUSINESS... subject matter expertise in applicable codes / regulations?PASSION FOR RESULTS... advanced project management skills? ability to work in a rapidly changing environment?We are looking for:- a bachelor's degree in mechanical or fire protection engineering- project management experience- 10 years of retail engineering experienceWhat is the work?Leadership:- Provides leadership and oversight of project plans to ensure consistency with H-E-B's engineering standards, strategic objectives, and goals- Serves as lead project manager; oversees the work of Engineers assigned to projects- Provides training, coaching, and mentoring to less experienced Engineers- Represents H-E-B at jurisdictional meetings, as required- Leads the research and analysis of design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of design- Participates in / leads an information sharing forum with H-E-B consulting engineers- Supports on-boarding, training, and evaluation processes for consultant partners- Checks construction documents for completeness / correctnessProject Management:- Manages format concepts, including fixture plans, site, interior design and exterior design; prepares estimates, cost reports, and budgets for projects- Accountable for overall timeline, milestones, and project management for multiple, complex projects- Manages projects from conception through completion, while effectively communicating with consultants- Represents the design team at project meetings- Leads initiatives to obtain project data and establish program requirements- Manages vendor relationships as needed, and depending on project requirements- Leverages advanced knowledge of building codes, zoning laws, and related construction ordinances / regulations to advance project and department goals- Establishes criteria to develop and evaluate project scope- Leads the review of project plans- Develops QA standards for projects - Leads project cost analysis; evaluates the impact against business models - Ensures work is done to meet all applicable codes in accordance with international and local regulatory requirements- Works with Construction team to resolve outstanding issues; recommends best practices to fix issues- Performs field inspections to review construction work for conformance with the design drawings, applicable codes, and company policiesWhat is your background?- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field- 10 years of experience in retail engineering- Professional engineer's license (fire protection) in the state of Texas (preferred)Do you have what it takes to be a fit as an H-E-B Principal Engineer?
- Expert in fire protection design and NFPA codes- Expert knowledge of building systems and their coordination / integration (structural, architectural, MEPR), building codes, environmental regulations, handicap accessibility codes and their direct application, sanitation concerns, regulations, and applications, dynamics / application of site and landscape design, appropriate materials use / methods of construction- Advanced understanding of project scheduling and how to leverage expertise- Advanced project management skills- Advanced skills in use of 2D / 3D presentation graphics- Computer application / software skills, including AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office- Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between projects- Ability to demonstrate flexibility, adaptability, and collaborative work style in a fast-paced retail environmentCan you...- Function in a fast-paced retail environment- Travel by car or plane with overnight stays- Work extended hours07-2018
