STACKER LABORER

In business for over 130 years, H.M. Stauffer & Sons is a wood components manufacturer located in Leola, PA. We have a FT, Day Shift Laborer position available in our Treated Lumber Department.

Great Schedule:
Monday - Thursday 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM (40 hours). OT on Fridays, as required, 5 AM - 1 PM.

Responsibilities include:

1. Removes banding from lumber bundles to separate pieces of lumber for the stacking operation.

2. Bands lumber bundles in preparation for treatment or shipment.

3. Lays wooden lathe or removes lathe between pieces of lumber.

4. Removes and stacks wooden spacers which are used to separate lumber bundles.

5. Feeds lumber into the stacking operation.

6. Catches lathe by hand and stacks it in carts for reuse.

7. Operates the stacking machinery by selecting appropriate push buttons on the panel.

8. Greases the stacking machinery.

9. Tags and stamps lumber.

10. Cleans up work area. Sweeps, shovels, discards banding and trash.

Preferred Experience / Characteristics:

• Prior work with lumber preferred
• Ability to learn quickly, with a mature and service oriented attitude
• Must be flexible and process driven with strong attention to detail and high motivation for completing tasks accurately and on time
• Take measurements to the 1/16th inch using a tape measure
• Basic math to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
• Read manufacturing paperwork (English)
• Basic verbal and written communication skills (English)
• Able to follow directions and carry out instructions
• Able to work respectfully with other employees
• Safety-conscious

Candidate must pass a physical, lift test, and drug test; lift 50 pounds.

MUST accurately measure with a tape measure (no exceptions). Tutorials available on YouTube.
