Responsibilities: 

  • Design & Project Development of roadway and drainage improvements for streets, highways, and interstates.

  • Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, conduct studies and support all aspects of the engineering project while collaborating with staff, consultants, and clients.

  • Keeps project tasks on schedule, within budget, and performs or assures that quality control is accomplished for each project.

  • Performs complicated design work on larger projects.

  • Leading project tasks including roadway plan development, cost estimating, and report writing.

  • Participating in project scoping, fee estimating and proposal activities.

  • Achieving project objectives including quality/scopes, budgets, and schedules.

  • Attending onsite and offsite client meetings.

  • Ability to effectively communicate design details through presentations. Technical writing skills preferred.

 

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of roadway, highway and or drainage design experience

  • B.S. in Civil, Engineering

  • Must be familiar with contracts and be able to prepare and review engineering contracts.

  • This role will support our Miami, FDOT.   

  • Knowledge of client requirements for FDOT proposals and contract document submittals. 

  • Experience working with FDOT required.  Experience with other agencies is a plus.

  • Must have experience in engineering projects to be able to perform QA or QC reviews, analyze project progress to be in conformance with project budgets and assist project managers in engineering, client, and sub-consultant issues.

  • Strong technical skills in roadway design and plan preparation

  • Familiar with industry related software.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Work Environment

Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, stoop, crawl, and lifting. The employee must frequently lift and/or move light equipment up to 20 pounds. Must be alert to equipment in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
