Description

VALET SUPERVISOR

 

The Valet Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Front Office Manager in overseeing and coordinating all aspects of valet and bell operations including staff management, revenue control, safety, and client relations. This position will be heavily involved with training and development of team members, implementation of safety policies, and providing on-the-job coaching and training as needed to ensure superior service to all patrons and guests of the hotel.

 

  • Provide support to Front Office Manager in regard to hiring and scheduling employees.
  • Train employees to warmly greet and welcome guests, by opening doors and assisting with luggage or other heavy items.
  • Train employees to answer guest questions regarding directions, local parking, local attractions, hotel amenities and other available services.
  • Train employees to effectively direct traffic in the driveway and assist guests in entering and leaving the hotel.
  • Train employees on systems for collecting and accurately labeling keys belonging to guests to ensure their proper return
  • Train employees to operate vehicles safely and responsibly and to safely operate and utilize the lift systems in the garage.
  • Train employees to organize and file paperwork regarding guests' vehicles and daily transactions.
  • Train employees to ensure front drive, parking garage and all Valet areas are presentable and functioning.
  • Train employees to keep the driveway areas clear of any unauthorized vehicular parking, staging or abandonment.
  • Trains employees to safely transport guests to and from the local airport utilizing the company vehicle.
  • Assist with the company’s vehicle maintenance, specifically vacuuming, gassing and delivering the vehicle to the designated car wash.
  • Supervises the quality of work for all employees on all shifts to ensure that all work tasks and assignments are performed efficiently, effectively, and at the service level standard set forth by the hotel.
  • Follows all safety procedures including proper valet training, reporting on-the-job injuries, loss prevention procedures and accident prevention training.
  • Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Supports associate feedback and suggestions including employee engagement.
  • Monitor maintenance of the facility and associated premises to ensure that the garage/driveway is clean, safe, and maintained to standards; supervise on-going maintenance projects to ensure quality and timely completion.
  • Assist Front Office Manager in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly operating reports as required.
  • Fill in to provide coverage for Valet Attendants, as needed.
  • Work shifts alongside staff and sometimes independently.
  • Use respectful communication to assist guests with their questions, problems, and concerns; address escalated concerns from guests.
  • Immediately respond to reports of accidents, incidents or safety concerns. Complete claim reporting in the instance of a loss.
  • Communicate professionally at all times with guests, clients, teammates, and hotel executive management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises the daily performance and efficiency of Valet Attendants on shift.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Able to read and speak the English language well
  • Must be able to perform each of the essential functions and responsibilities satisfactorily.
  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and be a proven safe driver with a cleandriving record for a minimum of 3 years.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to operate manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Flexible to work weekdays and weekends and holidays.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • One to three years valet parking supervisory experience.
  • Possesses excellent customer service, organizational, communication and multi-tasking skills.
  • Aptitude to remain calm in busy situations.
  • Strong interpersonal, motivational and leadership qualities.
  • Flexible to work any scheduled shifts and/or days, including weekends and holidays.
     

IDEAL CANDIDATE SKILLS

  • 3 years management or supervisory experience in the service industry.
  • Experience utilizing TEZ Technology Ticketless Valet system.
  • Knowledge and ability to audit all aspects of the operation.
  • Superior organizational, problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of business acumen.
  • Elite communication skills.
  • Luxury Hotel Experience

 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Job Type: $22.00 - $24.00, hourly
Hours: Weekdays, weekends and holidays; late hours, as needed

The salary listed is the rate Hotel San Luis Obispo reasonably expects to pay for this position.

Must be able to push and pull 75 pounds occasionally. Requires full range of motion. Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
