H2M architects engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, environmental consulting firm in Melville, NY seeks a Sr. Construction Observer to join our Construction Services team.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for observation of construction work and related field work
- Drive to and from multiple project sites during any given day as needed to observe contractors activities.
- Preparing daily reports, correspondence, change orders, periodic payment estimates, and quantity computations.
- Daily monitoring of contractor operations and verifying conformance with project plans and specifications.
- Observe details of work performed by others, document results; obtain photographic documentation of work performed.
- Confirm compliance with technical documents and industry specific standards and codes.
- Review and download field data into laptop computer and transfer to company server.
- Discuss projects with project team on a daily basis.
- Make accurate judgments calls on a variety of construction field activities.
- Observation of water piping, water treatment, water mains, water plants
- Wastewater plant/pump station construction experience
- Perform other like duties as assigned
Education and Qualifications
- NICET certification preferred.
- Watermain and Right of Way experience is a plus!
- Knowledge of construction, techniques and procedures.
- Good judgment skills.
- Good computer skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Experience with water piping, water treatment, water mains, water plants
- Experience with roofing projects and schooling projects
- Valid driver’s license with a clean history.
- Ability to stand, climb and walk continuously during an 8 -hour period.
- Ability to climb ladders /-20’ with 35 pound load.
- Ability to ride in man lifts to perform inspections.
- Ability to perform strenuous work in all climates (Ex. heat and cold, etc.).
- Must have good computer skills and be able to learn related software.
- Smart phone for use in daily field activities.
The salary range for this role is $45 - $52 an hour.
