What are the responsibilities and job description for the HSE Regional Coordinator position at H2O Innovation?
H2O Innovation is known for its state-of-the-art water and wastewater treatment systems, special products and services, and water and wastewater plant operations and maintenance. H2O is looking for a HSE Regional Coordinator who will work in collaboration with teams in Canada and the United States. The selected candidate will be preferably based in one of the following States: Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts but anywhere in the US North East Region will be considered for the right candidate. The main mandate will be to structure, monitor, improve, promote the health and safety function within the company.
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
- Assist in compliance reviews, inspections, general risk assessments, and other safety assessments to support the management of H2O’s Health, Safety, and Environmental Program;
- Assist in maintaining HSE records, permits, and reports as required by Country, State(s) Province, & various Local Regulatory Agencies;
- Support incident investigation & case management by assisting with post-incident investigations, collection & review of all information available, physical, verbal, and written pertaining to HSE events according to company policies and procedures;
- Assist with coordination, research, evaluation, and analysis of Product Safety concerns/risk management;
- Recommend, prepare, and implement procedures for detection, prevention, and elimination of physical, chemical, or other product hazards;
- Evaluate potential health hazards or damage that could occur from product misuse;
- Participate in preparation of product usage and precautionary label instructions;
- Assist & advise on HSE issues to make recommendations to Project & Facility Management;
- Ensure timely notification of HSE events to stakeholders;
- Provide meaningful recommendations, development and oversight of the implementation and completion of risk controls, mitigations, and corrective & preventative action plans;
- Development, present and conduct relevant HSE & Quality training;
- Maintain databases, analyze trends & report necessary internal and external statistics, data, & reports;
- Close out HSE events via the SOSPES Incident Reporting System, including lessons learned, regular status updates and closeout reports;
- Ensure compliance, client, local legal and business requirements are met;
- Provide additional HSE support, attend HSE meetings and manage special projects.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in health & safety or in a similar discipline;
- 10 or more years of experience in HSE in a high-risk environment;
- Completed an OSHA 30 Training.
- Experience with HSE software;
- Experience with ISO HSE standards;
- Experience in managing workers' compensation claims;
- Experience in HSE audits & compliance platform;
- Experience with the water treatment field and public works is an asset;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.;
- Excellent problem-solving skills and determination of root cause and corrective action for safety issues;
- People person and team player;
- Good sense of empathy and understanding;
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
- Autonomy and self-starter ;
- Valid driver’s license;
- Availability to travel (75% of time North American travels, in a non-pandemic context).
