What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Accountant position at H3 Construction and Design?
Scope of Position
We are looking to add an independent, driven, and detail-oriented individual to our team.
This position will provide specialized or general analysis support in various accounting functions such as: Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Cost Accounting, Property Accounting, and General Accounting. The Construction Accountant will work very closely with the President/CEO and CFO to communicate status on any open/closed projects, contracts and payments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Managing accounts payable/accounts receivable for company
- Applying analytical skills to maintain company’s books
- Preparing weekly and monthly reports for management
- Prepare AIA billing
- Preparing contract change orders
- Review and approve supplier invoices related to a project
- Review account totals related to project assets and expenses
- Report on project profitability to management
- Investigate all project expenses not billed to customers
- Approve the write-off of any project-related billings that cannot be billed to or collected from customers
- Oversee cash management functions for all development/construction projects.
- Complete all bank reconciliations
- Maintain general ledger accounts for all projects under construction
- Prepare internal books for outside auditors in timely fashion (annually).

Required Education and Experience
- A bachelor's degree in business or accounting, with detailed knowledge of project contracts and change order documents.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in construction accounting
- Accounting background
- Construction industry experience
