Job Title: Director of Resource Development

Position Location: New London, CT

Reports to: Executive Director

Employment Type: Part-Time, 30 hrs/week

Salary: $25-$32/hour, commensurate to experience.

Habitat for Humanity of Eastern Connecticut (HFHECT) is a Christian non-profit affordable housing ministry that builds homes in partnership with low-income families in New London, Windham and part of Tolland Counties.

Homes are built with a volunteer labor force including homeowner families, corporate, civic, and church groups. All homes are built with donated funds and materials.

The Director of Resource Development is responsible for managing and developing the fundraising capacity of

HFHECT to support the mission. This rewarding role will be responsible for building relationships in the community including individuals, businesses, churches, organizations and foundations. The Director of Resource Development focuses on developing the financial resources and will implement fundraising strategies to accomplish fund development and capacity building initiatives identified in the annual budget and strategic plans.

Primary sources of funds at present are grants, annual appeals, matching funds, cars for homes, carpenter club.

Opportunities for growth – point of entry events, planned giving, major donors and possibly a fundraising event.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, write, monitor, and report on grant requests. Ensure compliance requirements are met.
  • Research and develop new avenues for funding.
  • Execute direct donor mailings, appeal letters and other donor enhancement communication as needed.
  • Lead the development of a board-level fundraising committee, focusing on board members as ambassadors of the mission and helping them expand our network of support.
  • Oversee all administrative tasks associated with fundraising including acquisition, solicitation, stewardship, and monitoring of all donor data and relationships.
  • Manage donor database, coordinate capturing and incorporating volunteer and restore donor data.
  • Build relationships with donors and prospects, encouraging engagement of the community as volunteers and as donors.
  • Determine if and what type of special events may have possibility to increase fundraising, plan and develop these.
  • Prepare regular reports that evaluate fundraising efforts, develop monthly progress reports on implementation of the annual development plan created as part of the budget, and quarterly reports on progress toward strategic plan goals.

Requirements:

Exceptional organization, communication and interpersonal skills are essential as well as the ability to work very occasional evenings and weekends. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in fundraising, marketing, public relations and or sales. Requires a multi-skilled individual who can build long-term community and financial support for HHFECT.
