Summary
The ReStore Assistant is responsible for overseeing the ReStore’s day-to-day retail sales, receiving, and donation operations. S/he will provide leadership to volunteers, screen donations, and ensure a smooth flow of products from intake to post-sale. S/he will also act as the Manager on duty as needed.
Compensation & Benefits
$15/hour, Habitat for Humanity of the Greater La Crosse Region offers paid time off, paid sick time, paid holidays, health/dental/vision insurance, accident insurance, and 401k retirement. This position is full-time, 40 hours per week.
Must be available to work shifts during ReStore hours, Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service and treat all people with dignity and respect.
- Ensure sales of all merchandise are properly rung through our point-of-sale system.
- Count daily cash drawers, make deposits, and change orders.
- Organize the daily work projects for the store volunteers and hold one-minute meetings to prepare everyone for the day’s activities.
- Maintain the merchandising, cleanliness, and safety of the ReStore daily.
- Maintain, organize, and clean donation receiving area daily.
- Screen donations from potential donors by communicating donation guidelines.
- Assist donors with unloading and receiving donations from donor vehicles and provide receipts.
- Ensure that donations are properly cleaned, measured, priced and/or marked and maintain the flow of the processing space.
- Oversee the process of assisting customers with removal and loading of purchased merchandise from the ReStore which may include large and heavy items.
- Attend ReStore staff meetings once per month.
- Attend “All” staff meetings once per month.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Maintain legible donation receipt records.
- Restock and organize shelves as needed.
- Ability to pass forklift training course if needed.

- Previous retail or customer service experience preferred.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and self-motivated.
- Able to work independently and under supervision.
- Enjoys working with people with diverse backgrounds and capabilities.
- Good problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Must be able to walk and/or stand for prolonged periods of time. Constant movement and use of limbs, and requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
- Ability to lift fifty pounds on a regular basis and seventy-five pounds occasionally.
- Committed to a safe work environment.
- Must be 18 years old or older.
Work Environment: Works in store and warehouse environment even during inclement weather, heat, and humidity. Noise level will be loud at times.
